Strategic Initiatives
Growth programs, investments, and their expected impact
Mosaic is idling and demobilizing the Araxá Mining and Chemical Complex, idling related mining activities at Patrocínio, pursuing a sale of the Araxá assets, and continuing technical assessment of the Patrocínio niobium opportunity.
Expected impact: The actions reduce annual Mosaic Fertilizantes phosphate production by approximately 1 million tonnes. Following a potential transaction, Mosaic expects annual capital-expenditure savings of approximately $20-$30 million and annual operating-expense savings of approximately $70-$80 million.
Mosaic and Rainbow Rare Earths are evaluating recovery of rare-earth elements from phosphogypsum associated with Mosaic's existing phosphate operations in Uberaba, Brazil.
Expected impact: The preliminary assessment contemplated processing approximately 2.7 million tonnes of phosphogypsum annually to produce about 1,900 tonnes of separated neodymium-praseodymium oxide and 600 tonnes of a samarium, europium and gadolinium-rich product.
Mosaic Biosciences launched Renuvis Enzara, a residue-management solution using endoglucanase enzyme technology to accelerate decomposition of crop residue, including in cold conditions.
Expected impact: The product expands Mosaic's biological and performance-product portfolio and is intended to improve field readiness, planting conditions, machinery operation and crop establishment without requiring an additional application pass when tank-mixed with compatible inputs.
