Franco-Nevada Corp Dossier
Qualitative Analysis
Business overview
Franco-Nevada Corporation is the leading gold-focused royalty and streaming company globally, managing the industry's largest and most diversified portfolio of cash-flow producing assets. Founded in 1986, the company operates with a business model designed to provide investors with direct exposure to gold and precious metals prices, alongside exploration optionality, while completely avoiding direct exposure to operating cost inflation and capital cost overruns. Franco-Nevada does not operate mines, develop projects, or conduct exploration itself. Instead, it acts as a financial partner to operators, securing top-line royalties (such as Net Smelter Returns) and stream agreements (the right to purchase precious metals at a fixed, predetermined price). While gold and precious metals represent the core of its portfolio (accounting for approximately 85% of revenues), Franco-Nevada also maintains strategic diversification in base metals and North American oil and gas royalties.
